1905–1985

While still studying pottery at the Kunstgewerbeschule Burg Giebichenstein in Halle Katt Both (German, 1905–1985) also turned to photography, experimenting with portraits, structural forms, and patterns. From 1924 to 1928 she studied at the Bauhaus in Weimar and Dessau with László Moholy-Nagy and in the joiner’s workshop. Her specialization in furniture design and architecture brought her into collaboration with Marcel Breuer, Mart Stam, and Walter Gropius and she later worked in the studios of Luckhardt Brothers & Alfons Anker in Berlin and Otto Haesler in Celle. From 1954 on she worked as an architect in Kassel.
