Bauhaus
EXHIBITION Oct 6 — Oct 31, 1984
Exhibition Text
This exhibition will take place as Part of the "International Photo-scene Cologne" during the 1984 Photokina fair (5 October to 16 October).
This exhibition will introduce to the public for the first time the important publication of the RUDOLF KICKEN GALERIE's sixth portfolio of photographs - BAUHAUS - a specialized selection of images made from the archives of Bauhaus artists living throughout the world. The result of highly concentrated research in East and West Germany, the United States, Switzerland, France, Hungary and Argentina, these photographs represent some of the finest work of the considerable number of artists whose participation in the most important period of photographic activity - the New Vision - has remained to this date all but inaccessible. Works by twenty artists, including Herbert Bayer, Lucia Moholy, David Feist, Irene Bayer, Gertrud Arndt, Georg Muche, Eugen Batz, Gerd Balzer, T. Lux Feininger, Ringl & Pitt (Ellen Auerbach and Grete Stern), Horatio Coppola, Edmund Collein, Hajo Rose and others, encapsulate the Bauhaus (1919–1933) Zeitgeist and form an indispensable contribution to photographic history.
